The Upper Darby School District is seeking applicants certified in Health & Physical Education for a long-term substitute position at Drexel Hill Middle School through June 1, 2025.

 

Qualifications: 

1. PA Instructional Certificate: Health & Physical Education PK-12
Out-of-state educators and anyone seeking an emergency certificate should review the guidelines set by the PA Department of Education. Pennsylvania Certification information is available at:

2. BA required in appropriate major study, masters preferred but not required.
3. Knowledge of content in certification area
4. Classroom/group management skills
5. Ability to use instructional materials and equipment
6. Knowledge of child growth and development

8. Planning Skills
9. Human Relations Skills
10. Must be able to organize a classroom to deliver the Upper Darby School District Health and Physical Education program.
11. Strong communication and motivational skills.
12. Ability to effectively communicate with, instruct, and work with students, staff and parents.

 

 

Job Goal:
To participate, as a member of the instructional staff, in directing the learning of high school students. Such participation shall be directed toward attainment of general and specific objectives of the curricula of the school, and of the school district. 

 

 

Essential Functions: 

1. Provide performing opportunities for students.
2. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
3. Maintain good classroom organization, management and discipline.
4. Conduct an ongoing assessment of student progress in order to provide instruction to ensure continuous student growth.
5. Provide the Upper Darby School District Music Program for each student in conjunction with the goals of the Strategic Plan.
6. Demonstrate appropriate planning, the use of a variety of instructional techniques and strategies, and the incorporation of technology where possible to supplement instruction. 

7. Maintain student records including all required paperwork.
8. Communicate regularly with parents and be available for educational purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
9. Pursue ongoing professional growth opportunities.
10. Plan purposeful assignments for volunteer(s).
11. Attend staff meetings, and department meetings and serve on building and District committees as required.
