MAJOR FUNCTION: The Elementary Counselor will provide behavioral, educational and career counseling to individuals and groups of students. The counselor will assist students in understanding and seeking solutions to social, emotional or academic problems or issues; serve as a resource pertaining to student behavior management strategies; monitor and intervene with attendance concerns; and interpret data for staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Employee must have the ability to perform the following essential functions on a timely basis with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Provide individual and group counseling to students
- Conduct classroom guidance lessons
- Examine and interpret academic and behavioral data
- Provide Tier I and 2 behavior interventions
- Member of core school teams such as SST, IEP, PBIS, SAP
- Responsible for the implementation and artifact collection for Career Education and Work standards
- Responsible for student academic records and transfers
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: In addition to the foregoing essential job functions, the employee is required to perform the following additional duties, unless such a duty cannot be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the building principal.
QUALIFICATIONS: To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skills, and/or ability necessary.
- K-12 School Counseling PA Certificate
- Masters Degree
